Apple Brandy on the Rocks by Kilian Paris
50ml refillable Eau de Parfum
Olfactive Family – Woods / Gourmand
Perfume Author – Sidonie Lancesseur
This fresh opening of Apple Brandy on the Rocks unfolds into the perfume’s core personality: a distinctive apple brandy accord, in which a crisp fruity blend harmonises with brandy – recreated using notes of rum for the liquor aspect, moss and vanilla. Upon a core structure of cedarwood and ambroxan, the scent carries sophistication into the night. It captures the constant reincarnation and incontestable elegance of the ‘Big Apple’ – most especially that of its legendary nightlife.Inspired by the city of New York, Kilian introduces its new addition to the Liquors olfactive family – Apple Brandy on the Rocks, an olfactive soundtrack to nightlife’s liberation to come. Apple Brandy was first conceived with perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur for the opening of Kilian Paris’ New York flagship eight years ago. The fragrance returns, featuring the original apple brandy core but, this time, with an added uplift – Kilian’s signature “on the rocks” accord blended into the opening for an ice-cold liquored delight expressing a uniquely Kilian Paris character. A blend of bergamot, apple brandy and cardamon, the accord cools down the original, adding excitement and modernity.

The bottle of the perfumes of ‘The Liquors’ collection is styled as a speakeasy essential, like an art deco glass to recall the most fabulous bars. The weighted glass is engraved with the emblematic K motif to throw and catch light at all angles, finished with a golden, diamond-shaped plaque signed in white serigraphy. These details bring to the Kilian Paris creation a guarantee of luxury, that should not be ephemeral, but should last a lifetime. As such this perfume is refillable.
When I launched my brand in 2007, my goal was to put perfumery back on its pedestal and return it to its former glory, the way perfumery existed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
For me, perfume is the essential accessory of every man and woman. Each fragrance that I make is imagined and created as the ultimate way to express oneself and all the facets of our unique personalities‘ – Kilian Hennessy
Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.
Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels.
