Perfume Author – Mathieu Nardin

Inspired by the city of Paris, Kilian Paris presents Fièvre Verte by Kilian, a hymn to a legendary Parisian liqueur – Absinthe. The scent evokes the traditional French aperitif hour, that early evening window when absinthe was served with sugar in a glass and mixed slowly with a spoon in a peaceful ritual, during which the liquid takes on a pastel green hue. This shade reappears in Fièvre Verte by Kilian, an entirely natural colour: soft like a Parisian mist, or a Van Gogh painting that comes to life.

The fragrance opens with the essence of Absinthe supported by Violet Leaf and Licorice Root. Its base revolves around a unique raw material, Patchouli. It resonates throughout the fragrance, blending into a marquetry of woody notes composed around Vetiver and Sandalwood. Fièvre Verte by Kilian is a tribute to Parisian celebrations and pleasures.

Perfume Notes: Absinthe, Violet Leaf, Patchouli.

The bottle of the perfumes of ‘The Liquors’ collection is styled as a speakeasy essential, like an art deco glass to recall the most fabulous bars. The weighted glass is engraved with the emblematic K motif to throw and catch light at all angles, finished with a golden, diamond-shaped plaque signed in white serigraphy. These details bring to the Kilian Paris creation a guarantee of luxury, that should not be ephemeral, but should last a lifetime. As such this perfume is refillable.

When I launched my brand in 2007, my goal was to put perfumery back on its pedestal and return it to its former glory, the way perfumery existed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

For me, perfume is the essential accessory of every man and woman. Each fragrance that I make is imagined and created as the ultimate way to express oneself and all the facets of our unique personalities‘ – Kilian Hennessy

Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.

His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.

Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels
